The joys of Slow Food – Paco & Lola visits Turin

Sarda marinata con Paco & LolaThis week Paco & Lola has jumped the Alps to participate alongside other Galician products in bringing the flavors of north-west Spain to the Salone del Gusto gourmet food fair at the Lingotto centre in Turin, Italy.

This biannual fair is a showcase of the global ‘Slow Food’ movement, an initiative started in Italy in 1986 that now counts thousands of supporters in over 100 countries. ‘Slow Food’ is all about preserving, appreciating and promoting local and regional gastronomic traditions, with a particular focus on local produce, ingredients and varieties.

As part of the fair the Galician participants have prepared a special Italian language cookbook featuring a delicious sardine recipe paired with Paco & Lola Albariño. Leading Galician chef, Marcelo Tejedor, will present the dish during the fair and the cookbook can be downloaded from our Facebook page.

Paco & Lola will also take part in a wine tasting led by sommelier Xoan Cabanas, who will introduce the participants to leading wines from each of Galicia’s five denominations of origin. With more than 2000 wines from around the world present and 200 gourmet food stands, the Salone del Gusto is sure to be one of Italy’s premiere gourmet events this autumn.
