Moon Cresta: The first days at Weed

“After thirty-something hours of travel and around fifty hours without sleep, on April 15th, we arrived at the doors of Radio Star Studios in California at 4am after what must have been the longest Wednesday of our lives. After picking up the keys to the band house (our home during the 22 days we were recording) we tried to freshen up and try to get over a case of jetlag from which we are still probably suffering.

Next morning we weren’t quite sure what day it was but we started two days of rehearsals, drum, amplifier and microphone checks. It’s intense work but these first couple of days also allowed us a chance to take a break, sample the local beer and to start to get to know the friendly people of the town of Weed.

Sunday the 19th we hit the REC button. Sylvia Massy put the finishing touches to the material we prepared in the preceding days and decided we were ready to start. In a fairly short but highly intense session we recorded four songs. Rubi let loose like a demon and the sound of the drums made even our insides vibrate.”

Over the coming year we will be sharing news and updates of Mooncresta’s life on the road and in the studio, reflecting iWine’s special relationship with the band. Stay happy and don’t forget to ‘Play the Wine’!
